QuantiFERON®-TB Gold In-Tube

Collect: One Cellestis QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube collection kit, each containing three tubes (nil, TB, and mitogen), ARUP supply #45112 for use at elevations less than 2,650 feet. High-altitude (HA) tubes, ARUP supply #46261, should be used between elevations of 3,350 and 6,150 feet. When collecting at elevations between 2,650 and 3,350 feet, or at elevations above 6,150 feet, it is recommended that blood be collected using a syringe. These tubes are available online via eSupply using ARUP Connect™ or by contacting ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787.

Transport: Original collection tubes, after incubation and centrifugation, at 2–8°C.
Pediatric Collect/Transport: Original collection tubes, after incubation and centrifugation, at 2–8°C.
Remarks: Tubes should be between 17ºC and 25ºC (63ºF to 77ºF) at the time of blood filling. Immediately after filling tubes, shake them 10 times just firmly enough to ensure that the entire inner surface of the tube is coated with blood to solubilize antigens on tube walls. Overenergetic shaking may cause gel disruption and could lead to aberrant results.

After mixing, incubate upright at 37°C for 16–24 hours (within 16 hours of collection). If the blood is not incubated immediately after collection, remixing of the tubes by inverting 10 times must be performed immediately prior to incubation. After incubation, centrifuge for 15 minutes at 2000–3000 RCF (g).
Unacceptable Conditions: Room temperature specimens; specimens that have not been centrifuged.
Stability: After incubation and centrifugation—ambient: two hours; refrigerated: four weeks; frozen: four months.
