ARUP Laboratories’ commitment to creating a supportive and satisfying work environment for employees has earned it a place on Forbes magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2022.
Forbes ranked ARUP 365th overall among the 500 companies with at least 1,000 workers that the magazine recognized for their corporate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Companies that made the final list of 500 received the most recommendations and have the most diversity among board members and executives, as well as proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives, according to Forbes.
“We’re honored to earn this recognition for an attribute we view as very important at ARUP,” CEO Andy Theurer said. “We strive each day to create a good working environment by treating people with mutual respect and support inside and outside our company. We aim to develop and reward individuals and teams and to create and maintain a safe, satisfying, and engaging work environment for every employee.”
The annual Forbes rankings are based on anonymous responses to an employee survey that asked participants to rate inclusiveness in their organizations based on criteria such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability, and sexual-orientation equality. Respondents belonging to underrepresented groups were also asked to identify other employers in their industries with positive reputations for practices related to diversity.
The survey, which ran from September to October 2021, also asked employee respondents for their opinions about diversity among their companies’ executives and board members. In addition, survey administrator Statista used key diversity engagement indicators to evaluate organizations for the award.
ARUP has an established Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, along with multiple employee engagement groups focused on cultivating a culture of belonging that allows all employees to express themselves authentically.
ARUP also offers educational resources and programs, including speakers, trainings, and celebrations throughout the year to recognize and celebrate the diversity of its employees.
ARUP has consistently earned nods as a great place to work in both national and local rankings. Forbes recognized ARUP in 2021 on its Best Employers by State list, and in Utah, ARUP has received a Best Companies to Work For Award from Utah Business magazine for the past four years. The Utah Business award recognizes companies with good benefits and pay, plenty of opportunities for growth, and supportive and inclusive workplace cultures.
