Miscellaneous Order FAQs
What is the difference between a Miscellaneous Interface order and a Miscellaneous Referral order?
- The Miscellaneous Interface order is used to request testing performed at ARUP. These test codes are:
- 0097163 (Miscellaneous Test #1)
- 0098556 (Miscellaneous Test #2)
- 0098559 (Miscellaneous Test #3)
- 0098568 (Miscellaneous Test #4)
- The Miscellaneous Referral order is used to request testing that ARUP refers out to another laboratory. These test codes are:
- 0097101 (Misc Test, Ambient)
- 0097102 (Misc Test Refrigerated)
- 0097103 (Misc Test, Frozen)
To use a Miscellaneous Interface order:
Provide the ARUP test code in order comments.
Note:
- Only one test may be requested per each Miscellaneous Interface order.
- If the ARUP test code is not provided, ARUP will place the order on Except and contact the client to confirm the requested testing.
- Use of a Miscellaneous Interface order to request allergen testing, reflex testing, microbiology testing, or anatomic pathology testing is not recommended.
To use a Miscellaneous Referral order:
Provide the test name OR test code AND the performing laboratory for all requested tests.
- Any number of referral tests may be requested under a single order.
- Note: If any of this information is not provided, ARUP will place the order on Except and contact the client to confirm the requested testing.
What if multiple tests are requested under a Miscellaneous Interface order?
- ARUP will order and perform all requested testing.
- Not all test results will be transmitted back to the client’s interface.
- The client will need to log in to Connect to access all test results.
What if an ARUP in-house test is requested under a Miscellaneous Referral order?
- ARUP will order and perform the requested testing.
- No test results will be transmitted back to the client’s interface.
- The client will need to log in to Connect to access all test results.
